Grassland offset program

← Back to Ontario programs

Convert idled fields into new grassland habitat on your farm. Biodiversity can work for your business and we can help.

Often, developers are required to create grasslands to compensate for lost Species at Risk  habitat. Landowners can receive financial and technical assistance by converting idled fields into grass and forage habitats suitable for Species at Risk in Ontario. We can help landowners facilitate these offset agreements.

The landowner signs an agreement on a minimum plot size of 10 acres in exchange for the establishment of the grassland habitat for a period of 20 years.
