Grassland Habitat Establishment Program

Biodiversity can work for your land

Developers often need to offset the loss of Species at Risk (SAR) habitat by creating new grassland environments. Our program provides financial and technical support to landowners, transforming idle fields into thriving grass and forage habitats for SAR in Ontario. We don’t just guide landowners — we take care of the planning and full implementation of the grassland project, including facilitating offset agreements. Many projects also come with land lease payments, offering additional benefits.

Landowners participate through a 20-year agreement on plots of at least 10 acres, ensuring the long-term success of these vital habitats.
